Two Atlantic Chambers Barristers Take Silk

TWO top barristers from Liverpool’s Atlantic Chambers have been appointed QCs.
Simon Gorton and Gwynneth Knowles, from the Chambers in Cook Street, will be sworn in at Westminster Hall on April 7, 2011.
They were among 120 new appointments, from 251 applicants, announced by the Ministry of Justice this month.
Mr Gorton specialises in employment and civil litigation and was called to the Bar in 1988.
In recent years he has appeared in numerous high profile Equal Pay and TUPE claims and has a long track record of complex employment litigation.
As a civil practitioner Simon is regularly instructed by Police Forces in respect of cases involving malicious prosecution and false imprisonment. His personal injury work includes heavy brain, spine and complex psychiatric cases.
Miss Knowles was called to the Bar in 1993 and specialises in Family, Public Law and Court of Protection cases.
She is a part-time Tribunal Judge of the Mental Health Review Tribunal and a Member of Junior Counsel Panel, Welsh Assembly Government (children and family matters).
