New Mind’s Tourism App Proves a Hit as Three New UK Destinations Commission Apps

Following the success of New Mind’s ‘NewcastleGateshead City Guide’ iPhone App, the technology has now been adopted by tourism organisations in Blackpool, Bristol and Cardiff.
The groundbreaking NewcastleGateshead City Guide, one of the first to be developed and used by a tourism organisation in the UK, was officially launched in the Apple App Store in November 2010, debuting on the ‘New and Noteworthy’ section of the App Store Home Page and retaining a Top 10 position in the travel section for the weeks that followed.
The App enables hyper-localised and hyper-personalised in-destination visitor information to be delivered, extending the visitor journey from the initial planning phase all the way through to the actual in-destination experience using powerful location-based services.
Visitors can simply download the iPhone App to access a rich, interactive guide to the area. Information on their location in relation to the surrounding accommodation, attractions and events is instantly available, displayed in easy to read map view or list view format.
The NewcastleGateshead City Guide appears to have been an instant hit with users, achieving glowing reviews from visitors eager to get to grips with the new innovation:
“Great app which is really easy to use and quick to load. You can view places on a map and then get directions to hotels, places to eat/drink, theatre etc! Great if you have never been to Newcastle before."

New Mind is now in the process of implementing the app for Blackpool, Bristol and Cardiff and rolling out the technology to their customer base throughout the UK.
