Mason Owen to market grade II listed warehouse in Liverpool
21/02/2011

A grade II listed warehouse in Duke Street, Liverpool is now available to rent by property agents Mason Owen.
Humyak House was built in 1864 and is a typical example of a warehouse from the
mid-Victorian era.
The five-storey warehouse expands over 18, 515 sq ft is located at the end of Duke Street close to the Casartelli Building and the popular areas of Hanover Street and Liverpool One.
This area has become a focal point for retail, leisure and residential development over the last few years with ongoing redevelopment planned.
Humyak House is a substantial brick building which has a pitched slate roof and suspended timber flooring. Personnel access to the building is via street level and there is a steel goods entrance at the front of the property, which is centrally locked.
The warehouse has remained intact throughout its life and still has original features such as a jigger loft complete with winding gear and cast iron window shutters. Internal cast iron spiral staircases and columns support the building’s heavy-duty timber floor structure.
Mark Coulthurst of Mason Owen’s business space team said: “This is an original building in a prime location. The Duke Street and Hanover Street areas are still being redeveloped and are very popular with shoppers, residents and those looking for quality places to eat and drink.
“This quirky property has a number of ideal uses. The owners would consider a sale and we’d urge interested parties to get in touch as it will attract a lot of interest.”
Humyak House was given listed building status in 2008 as part of Liverpool’s World Hertiage Site status. Although close to the site of the world's first commercial wet dock (Old Dock, underneath Liverpool One), Humyak House represents a much later time when Liverpool had reached its status as a world trading port.
