Atlantic Chambers’ barrister to chair University of Liverpool’s CORE Committee

The Head of Liverpool’s Atlantic Chambers has been appointed Chair of the University of Liverpool’s Committee on Research Ethics (CORE).
Scott Donovan takes over the position from senior academic Dr Nirmala Pillay, for the period until December 31 2013.
The CORE committee is responsible for overseeing and reviewing the ethics of research involving humans as participants, carried out by academic staff and students of the University of Liverpool.
Mr Donovan, who recently collected the ‘Barrister Award’ in the prestigious Liverpool Law Society Awards 2011, is a leader in the field of clinical negligence. He is recommended by Legal 500 and has been a Crown Court Recorder since 1992.
Mr Donovan, who is also head of Atlantic Chambers’ Clinical Negligence Practice Group, said: “The University of Liverpool is committed to maintaining very high ethical standards of research and I am honoured to have been invited to Chair its Research Ethics committee.”
